Quest’anno ci siamo trovati a fronteggiare un avvenimento storico molto difficile e particolare, che ha indubbiamente stravolto le nostre vite e ci ha costretti a conformarci a nuove norme e abitudini che, prima della pandemia, non ci erano affatto familiari.
Una di queste abitudini è l’uso della mascherina antivirus, imposto da vari Stati nel mondo sotto consiglio dall’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità. La funzione principale delle mascherine antivirus è quella di limitare la diffusione delle goccioline di saliva che sono il principale veicolo di trasmissione del virus sia da parte delle persone con sintomi conclamati, sia da parte dei cosiddetti “asintomatici”, ossia di quei soggetti che, pur non mostrando i sintomi più evidenti del COVID-19, sono ugualmente contagiosi.
Ora, quello che sicuramente vi starete chiedendo in questo momento è “come mai, in un blog di moda, mi sto ritrovando a leggere un articolo su un argomento sanitario?”
Ovviamente, come ben potrete immaginare, la mia competenza primaria non è di certo il mondo della sanità, men che meno quello dell’epidemiologia.
Ciò di cui mi occupo, invece, è, come ben saprete, il mondo della moda, quindi in un momento come questo, nonostante la mia volontà immensa di aiutare chi ne aveva bisogno, mi sono sentita abbastanza inutile alla comunità.
Un giorno, però, guardandomi allo specchio mentre indossavo la mia mascherina anonima ed un po’ asettica ho realizzato di avere tra le mani un modo, seppur minimo, di aiutare le mie clienti a gestire l’emergenza in un modo meno freddo, più personale e certamente meno triste e traumatico.
“Indossare la mascherina per ora è necessario” ho pensato, “quindi perché non creare mascherine antivirus in linea con lo stile GRETEL Z. per rendere questa nuova abitudine più gradevole?”E lì mi sono venute in mente mille idee sul design da dare alla mia nuova creazione.
Dopo averne messe a punto un paio e dopo aver realizzato vari prototipi ho raggiunto, quello che per me era il risultato ottimale. In questo modo, ecco che viene alla luce la mia mascherina in puro raso di seta italiana, con logo in Swarovski certificato, perfetta da indossare con un outfit elegante ed in qualsiasi altra occasione, adatta a sostituire l’amato rossetto che, purtroppo, passerà inosservato per un bel po’ di tempo.
Ovviamente, per dare la possibilità alle mie donne di esprimere pienamente se stesse.
Ho pensato da subito di offrire la possibilità di personalizzare la propria mascherina, permettendo innanzitutto l’accessibilità ad una mascherina su misura, che si adatta perfettamente al proprio viso così da garantire il massimo della protezione possibile.
Inoltre saranno anche i colori e le fantasie ad essere completamente lasciate alla scelta della cliente, così da poterli abbinare al proprio vestito preferito, all’abito che dovrà indossare in un’occasione particolare o all’ everyday outfit per affrontare una nuova giornata lavorativa.
Prima di mettere in commercio un articolo del genere, ho voluto compiere una ricerca approfondita che mi permettesse di arrivare ad una consapevolezza tale da poterle mettere a disposizione delle mie clienti con tranquillità. Ho, infatti, consultato persone più esperte di me in questo campo, le quali mi hanno assicurato che ogni mascherina è un “antivirus”: che sia più o meno sofisticata, che possegga più o meno strati, che abbia valvole o filtri, in ogni caso la mascherina è uno dei migliori alleati a disposizione in questo momento, assieme al distanziamento sociale, fino all’arrivo di una cura efficace o di un vaccino contro il COVID-19. Ci tengo, però, a precisare che nel mio caso si tratta di mascherine lavabili e riutilizzabili, che non hanno però un adeguato potere filtrante, per cui non hanno una funzione medica e non possono essere indossate dal personale sanitario. Esse non andranno mai a sostituire le mascherine chirurgiche, ma piuttosto possono renderne l’utilizzo più piacevole e possono permettere alla donna che le sta indossando di non rinunciare al proprio stile e, contemporaneamente, di salvaguardare la propria salute.
Inoltre, cari lettori e lettrici, colgo l’occasione per ribadirvi quanto sia importante rispettare le norme igieniche per proteggere noi stessi e gli altri da qualsiasi pericolo, nonostante queste ultime non siano più obbligatorie in molte zone: le mascherine protettive combattono il virus solo se si rispettano tutte le indicazioni igieniche di prevenzione. Se indossiamo la mascherina, ma trascuriamo le altre norme di comportamento, rischiamo di vanificare la sua efficacia di barriera protettiva. È importante sottolinearlo.

This year we found ourselves facing a very difficult and particular historical event, which undoubtedly upset our lives and forced us to conform to new rules and habits that, before the pandemic, were not at all familiar to us.
One of these habits is the use of the antivirus mask, imposed by various States in the world under the advice of the World Health Organization. The main function of anti-virus masks is to limit the spread of saliva droplets which are the main vehicle for the transmission of the virus both by people with full-blown symptoms and by the so-called "asymptomatic", that’s to say those who, although not showing the most obvious symptoms of COVID-19, are equally contagious. Now, what you are probably wondering right now is "why, in a fashion blog, am I finding myself reading an article on a health topic?"
Obviously, as you can well imagine, my primary competence is certainly not the world of health care, least of all that of epidemiology. What I deal with, however, is, as you well know, the world of fashion so at a time like this, despite my immense desire to help those who needed it, I felt quite useless to the community.
One day, however, looking at myself in the mirror while wearing my anonymous and somewhat aseptic mask, I realized that I had in my hands a way, even if it’s minimal, to help my clients manage the emergency in a less cold, more personal way and certainly less sad and traumatic.
"Wearing the mask is necessary for now" I thought, "so why not create antivirus masks in line with the GRETEL Z. style to make this new habit more pleasant?" And there I came up with a thousand ideas on design to give to my new creation. After developing a couple of them and having made several prototypes, I achieved what was the optimal result for me. In this way, my pure satin silk mask, with certified Swarovski GZ logo comes to light, perfect to wear with an elegant outfit and on any other occasion, suitable to replace the beloved lipstick which, unfortunately, will go unnoticed for quite some time.
Obviously, to give my women the opportunity to fully express themselves, I immediately thought of offering the possibility of personalizing your own mask, first of all allowing accessibility to a made-to-measure mask, which adapts perfectly to your face in order to guarantee the maximum possible protection. In addition, colors and patterns will also be completely left to the customer's choice, so that they can be combined with her favorite dress, the dress she will have to wear on a particular occasion or with everyday outfits to face a new working day.
Before putting such an article on the market, I wanted to carry out an in-depth research that would allow me to reach an awareness that could be made available to my customers with confidence. In fact, I have consulted people who are more experienced than me in this field, who have assured me that every mask is an "antivirus": that it is more or less sophisticated, that it has more or less layers, that has valves or filters, in each case the mask is one of the best allies available at the moment, together with social distancing, until the arrival of an effective cure or a vaccine against COVID-19. However, I would like to clarify that in my case these are washable and reusable masks, which however do not have an adequate filtering power, therefore they do not have a medical function and cannot be worn by healthcare professionals. They will never replace surgical masks, but rather can make them more pleasant to use and can allow the woman who is wearing them not to give up their style and, at the same time, to safeguard their health.
In addition, dear readers, I take this opportunity to reiterate how important it is to comply with hygiene rules to protect ourselves and others from any danger, although the latter are no longer mandatory in many areas: protective masks fight the virus only if all hygienic prevention indications are respected. If we wear the mask, but neglect the other rules of behavior, we risk negating its effectiveness as a protective barrier. It is important to stress this.
